Do you ever stop to think that everything about you is precious? You are miraculously made in the image of an almighty God. The essence of who you are is like precious pearls. God knew every detail about who you are, what you’d become and how every part of your life would look before you even took your first breath. You are an amazing creation. You are beyond special and one of a kind. Do you know that?
God says this in: Jeremiah 1:5 ~ “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart..”
God sees you and thinks of just you. He also created you to be an advocate over your own self. To care for the temple he put you in charge of (your body) and to protect the pearls of your life…your mind, body and soul.
His word says this: “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces” Matthew 7:6
Years ago I was sitting in a counselors office in Amarillo. Out of nowhere the counselor took a small throw pillow and tossed it in my direction. I put my hands out and caught it so it wouldn’t hit me. I asked him why he did that. He said to me, “Becka this is what you do at times with your heart. You throw it out towards people who do not respect or care about your life.” In essence I was allowing “swine to trample my pearls under their feet.” That day back in the early 2000’s I learned this scripture and it’s deep meaning over my life. Since then it has become even more real and relevant through my life experiences and the adversity I’ve faced. As I’ve learned about boundaries, self care and valuing who I am…I’ve learned to be careful with my heart and protective of the precious pearls that make up my story. The essence of who I am.
How are you making sure you aren’t tossing your pearls before swine? How are you guarding your heart? These are great questions to contemplate on. Take time to learn how you can take the steps needed in YOUR life to protect and provide yourself a safe environment with safe people who truly care about your life. Also, people that love you unconditionally.
Sometimes I have to be reminded by those who care about me that I do have what it takes to defend my integrity and to respect how far I’ve journeyed already in this life. These reminders help me to once again rise up into strength and resilience. Without those loving reminders it is easy to slip into self doubt and defeat. Don’t allow yourself to fall down into places of defeat. God is a God of daily reminders. He is ALWAYS there…here…to speak into your life. He has countless messages through his holy word that will renew your mind and empower your spirit.
Romans 12 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. ... Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
As you move through this day, the start of this New Year. Remind yourself of the time and concern in which you were created. God took time to create a masterpiece piece….YOU. He created each one of us individually and specifically for a purpose.
Make 2022 the year that you accept Jesus Christ into your life. He offers YOU a FREE gift of salvation. Just by believing in who he is. Start today learning why you are precious in His sight.
